Hello there! It has been a fun, crazy few weeks around here. We took the kiddos to Disney (such a fun week!), the boys have been tracked out for 3 weeks, and my mom has been here the past week spending some time with us! In my “spare time” (hasn’t been too much of that lately), I’ve been working on some ideas for the front room. We’ve been here almost 2 two years and this room has been empty, except for our piano. The previous owners used it as a cute little sitting room, and I’ve been brainstorming what in the world we’d use it for since we moved in.Β Here’s how it looked early on.

Such a great room with so much natural light!

After throwing lots of ideas around, we thought we could use it best as a den. Jason could work from home a morning here and there. I could spend time in here (emailing, crafting, blogging, etc.).Β Maybe we could even add some french doors with the option of privacy one day. We’ll see…
I thought I’d let you into my mind a little bit and share some things I’ve been planning and starting to work on for this room. Since we moved in, I’ve been snapshotting pictures of dens/ offices/ home workspaces that I like.
A common theme in most of them is color. This is a bit of a surprise because every other part of our house is pretty neutral. So I’ve been looking for ways to add some color in this room.
I thought about curtains, or fun built-ins, or a rug to anchor the space and then I found this and loved it. I thought it would make for a great pop of color that could also pull from other colors in other places.

There were a few others things that I had my eyes on — here are some of them:
A Desk
I love this desk.Β It’s simple. Clean lines. Thin-framed. I also like this one from Pottery Barn.Β I’m going to try to build one like these to fit right under the window in the room.

Seating
I thought I could find some cute linen chairs to go with the desk like these.
Curtains
I’ve beenΒ using these pictures for inspiration as I look.

Thus far, I’ve had a hard time finding them in the length that I need. The window is arched and really tall, so I need a length of about 120″. Looking like I may need to head to the fabric store!
Shelving
I really want to add built-in shelving to the back wall. I’m envisioning lower cabinets with some open shelves at the top, kind of like this.

Our Piano
It currently looks like this…
And I want it to look like this.Β (And plan on using one of my favorite blogs to help me!)

My husband is going to kill me.Β Haha!
So, that’s about it for the planning stage of this room. I’m super excited, have already gotten started on a bunch of things, and can’t wait to share more. Want a few sneak peeks?!Β Well, okay π
