If you missed the last post, you can find it here. You’ll see lots of before pictures and get a glimpse into the whole process of updating the room.
One of the main difficulties I had in designing this room was figuring how to decorate this big ole fireplace. I wound up building and painting a canvas to sit up top and am really happy with how it turned out. I built it large enough fill the space between the mantel and the soffit mid way up the wall and it fills the space really well. Here’s a post from earlier that includes some info about the canvas and how you can purchase one in The Shop.
Ok, now to bombard you with tonnnnnnnns of pictures! The first of which is a good picture of the room before we moved in.

And a bonus picture from last Christmas. Found this cute app on my phone where you upload a picture of your family room and insert Santa. It was a fun little thing for the kids to wake up and find Christmas morning. Cute right?! (and as you can see I have a different canvas on the fireplace for Christmastime)
