Laundry room remodel

I helped some friends in their laundry room a few weeks ago.Β  While it was already pretty functional for this family of 6, they wanted to find a way for it to feel a bit more open and finished. Β They started by taking down the large cabinets over the washer and dryer and this is what they were left with.93658de7-3a73-4eb4-becd-1288cb4f0150.png1c1ac628-dc91-47c2-a7a4-15ece4b35bc2.pngI spent an hour in their home for a consultation and we came up with a basic plan for the space.Β  I went home and followed up with a full plan in a design proposal. Β  It looked something like this:

  • Add one shallow shelf over W&D
  • One Β½ shelf over washer (with hanging clothes rod over dryer)
  • One full shelf on top
  • Add one Β½ shelf over sink
  • Add one full shelf on top

I worked on building, sanding, staining, and sealing the shelves at home and then spent about 4-5 hours on the install one morning.70C76FE8-F742-49C1-871E-706D93418AB9ed26d8aa-c2dc-44f6-9146-17bd90bda660.pngHer husband painted the wall as we were making a few small adjustments (raised the bottom shelf up a bit and made it a bit deeper). They’re still hoping to purchase some matching baskets, but here is the almost-finished project! Β What a difference!IMG_5216IMG_5217IMG_5211IMG_5210IMG_5218IMG_5213And I always have to include a good before and after πŸ™‚
