I helped some friends in their laundry room a few weeks ago.  While it was already pretty functional for this family of 6, they wanted to find a way for it to feel a bit more open and finished.  They started by taking down the large cabinets over the washer and dryer and this is what they were left with.I spent an hour in their home for a consultation and we came up with a basic plan for the space.  I went home and followed up with a full plan in a design proposal.   It looked something like this:

• Add one shallow shelf over W&D
• One ½ shelf over washer (with hanging clothes rod over dryer)
• One full shelf on top
• Add one ½ shelf over sink
• Add one full shelf on top

I worked on building, sanding, staining, and sealing the shelves at home and then spent about 4-5 hours on the install one morning.Her husband painted the wall as we were making a few small adjustments (raised the bottom shelf up a bit and made it a bit deeper). They’re still hoping to purchase some matching baskets, but here is the almost-finished project!  What a difference!And I always have to include a good before and after 🙂
